Instructional Management
Beliefs about Education
I believe the following to be true:
Managing the classroom should be a constant concern of all teachers. A better learning environment is created when teachers use management techniques that allow students to experience security and confidence.
Statements of Personal Attitudes:
I personally feel that:
In order to be effective in my teaching I must first be effective in the way I manage my classroom. A good relationship is built when certain behaviors are enforced and the results are positive academic outcomes.
Observable Teacher Behaviors:
In my teaching, I will:
State in advance the expectations and objectives of the classroom, and the outcomes if they are not followed. I will also identify problems when they occur and correct them as soon as possible. I will listen to my students, remain flexible, and use praise as much as possible.
Improvement of Academic and Vocational Skills
Beliefs about Education
I believe the following to be true:
The success and improvement of students in vocational and applied education programs depends largely upon not only their courses in vocational education, but also their regular academic curriculum.
Statements of Personal Attitudes:
I personally feel that:
If vocational course content is merged with regular academics, it will make learning experiences seem more realistic for all students.
Observable Teacher Behaviors:
In my teaching, I will:
Devise "real-life" techniques so my students understand the role that regular academics will play in their vocational program. I will also encourage regular academic teachers to show students how a lesson could apply to their lives.
