(If you have already read this letter, click here to move to the index.)
Hello students! I am glad that you have decided to take this course. I promise to challenge all of you by preparing you for the work world through a variety of activities. Whether you have plans to go on to college, or to search for a job right out of high school, this course will give you the necessities of finding a job, and then give you that extra edge so you have the ability to get the job above someone else.
First of all, let's make sure that you have all of the requirements for this course. You must have already completed and passed keyboarding and computers with a 70% or better. You must have a working knowledge of the Internet, as this course will challenge you to search and obtain information from various sites on your own. Finally, you must be able to work as a team. All of you will rely on each other's information throughout this marking period, so it is crucial that you feel comfortable with one another and share your ideas! Remember that NO IDEA IS A BAD IDEA! This is how we learn. If at any time you are having a problem with something in the class, please feel free to let me know so we can talk about it. I don't want anyone's feelings to inhibit their ideas for this class. This should be a fun experience for you, and if it's not I want to know.
The reason that you are looking at this page right now is to get you feeling comfortable with it. Learn this address by heart, as you will have a quiz on how to get here tomorrow. Not hard! I will just stop by sometime during the class and ask you to take me to this site. This site will be your life-line, especially if you are absent. All assignments will be posted on this site and it is your responsibility to catch up on what you have missed.
I am looking forward to getting to know each of you. There is going to be a lot of information covered in the next nine weeks and sometimes you may feel overwhelmed, but stick with it! You will be able to use everything you learn in this class in real-life situations and I hope you take advantage of it! Good luck to you! Let's get started!
