Vocational Student Organizations

Beliefs about Education

I believe the following to be true:

VSO’s are an important part of a student’s education because it provides them with experience, team building, and leadership skills in their chosen field, in addition to interaction with other students in the same field.

Statements of Personal Attitudes:

I personally feel that:

By participating in VSO’s, students are given skills that will make them more marketable and competitive in the work world. This could make the difference between getting a job, and losing one.

Observable Teacher Behaviors:

In my teaching, I will:

Incorporate and encourage membership into VSO’s by participating and/or advising a group. I will also work to show the benefits of becoming a member by having current/previous members share their experience.

Work-Based Learning

Beliefs about Education

I believe the following to be true:

It is a necessity that students are given the opportunity to be involved in the career area they are pursuing. With cooperation, schools and employers also have a better understanding of their expectations for one another.

Statements of Personal Attitudes:

I personally feel that:

If students are given the opportunity to participate in work-based learning, they are better able to understand the workplace and make successful career choices.

Observable Teacher Behaviors:

In my teaching, I will:

Provide as many work-based learning experiences as possible to students. I will focus my teaching around skills that employers want so my students are prepared when they graduate.
